There’s nothing fancier than owning a well-made wristwatch or a timeless pocket watch to show off in the world of Steampunk! They’re basically a symbol of the entire aesthetic, knowing that time itself brought us here where we are now! Speaking of pocket watches especially! It might come to you as a surprise, but there’s still a huge variety of these rarities in the making by enormous corporations worldwide!

Over time, as the mechanics have been developing obviously, making them more user-friendly from the technical point of view. And the fact that Pocket watches were by our side Hundreds of years ago and are still in production, gives us enough of a reason to still invest in the Timepiece! Cause let’s face it…incorporating it with a cool tailcoat and a top hat, at the same time grabbing the watch by its chain and flipping it open with that satisfying “click”…sounds like Yum to me!;)

So are pocket watches unbeatable?

That being said, pocket watches are still the OG choice for sure! Same time, wristwatches aren’t falling behind AT ALL, especially if they have a chunky, industrial look with leather straps and maybe even brass details. Cause let’s be real…some folks go full-on inventor mode and mod their existing watches with extra gears and straps or even faux steam-powered designs!

Some fans even repurpose smartwatches by recreating it with an old leather coverage and some brass embellishments to make them look like some kind of “retro-futuristic gadget”. This is where our own personal choice kicks in though! In order to achieve your own beloved Steampunk look, sometimes less can be more…by combining the original watch with a more modest high-collar lace blouse and lace-up boots would be a great choice!;)

So these days watches in Steampunk are still 100% a must-have! Also, it’s not just about telling time, cause people have gotten even more creative with how they incorporate them. Making these watches a top knot fashion equipment!;)

But without a longer stop…This is why I’m here to introduce you to some modern watches for you to consider with an amazing QUALITY and Uniqueness by still being pocket-friendly! As we all know, when it comes to watches and their longevity, choosing quality over cheap and shiny surfaces should be the principal…without a question!;)

In no particular order, here’s a list of brands and categories we’re gonna dive into to have a closer peek, my friends!

  • Tissot Watches
  • Timex Watches
  • Hamilton Watches
  • Zeppelin Watches
  • LOUIS XVI Watches
  • Pocket watches

TISSOT

Featured photo of Tissot watches topic.

Still…Let’s get started with my own favorite watch brand!;) Tissot offers you such versatility to mix it with your outfits whether it’s for daily wear or a red carpet event! Personally leaning more towards Men’s watches because of their rustic look, especially knowing that all watches are adjustable!

But first things first! That Swiss watch brand was founded in 1853 by Charles-Félicien Tissot and his son Charles-Émile and even from the very beginning Tissot focused on precision and innovation! Eventually, they came out and introduced the first mass-produced pocket watch. As being the pioneers of the dual-time zone timepieces of course!;) Bravo!

Over the years, the brand has continuously been a leader in horology by producing the first non-magnetic wristwatch as well, for example. So, what makes these products special and what do they offer? The high quality is based on their precise and reliable movements that are only achievable by first-class craftsmanship. Also, innovative materials such as sapphire crystals, titanium, and anti-magnetic properties play a big role here. All in all…they offer you Swiss engineering with a reasonable price tag!;)

Today, Tissot is part of the Swatch Group and still maintains its reputation for accessible luxury with astonishing Swiss-made quality. Figure that it’s enough of an assurance, right?;)

Asking how Steampunk fits in here?

Some of their pocket watches and vintage-styled mechanical watches, like the “Tissot Men’s Le Locle Powermatic 80”, “Heritage 1936” or “Tissot Chemin Des Tourelles Squelette” have the old-world charm that squeezes perfectly into a vintage steam fashion line!
Especially when the gears are exposed in skeleton watches, it resembles the intricate machinery found in steampunk designs. Obviously, those were just a couple of samples;) It’s up to you to mix them with your own favorite historic and beloved outfits to create that ultimate BOMB overall look! Have fun!;)

TIMEX

Alright, let’s talk about Timex—a brand that’s been around since 1854. Also an old boy!:) They started out as the Waterbury Clock Company in Connecticut, making affordable timepieces when pocket watches were “The products”. By the early 20th century, they changed their route to wristwatches and shortly after became famous for their rugged durability and affordability.

And I’m not even kidding…these watches were put through crazy durability tests, like getting strapped to a boat motor or frozen in ice, and they still worked like a charm!;) No wonder they dropped their legendary slogan called “Takes a licking and keeps on ticking.”

Speaking of the modern world Timex, it’s still making super solid, stylish, and even more wallet-friendly watches. In the 90s in fact, were another game-changer for the brand when they came out with the Indiglo Backlight feature, which is an electroluminescent panel that lets you see the time in the dark with a cool blue glow! We all remember those watches, right? That being said…from vintage reissues to modern smartwatches, they’ve got something for everyone. No worries!!

But you have to keep in mind that Timex isn’t a luxury brand (if it’s something you crave for!), but it’s still a great choice if you want a tough, no-nonsense watch that won’t break the bank!;) They’re also one of the easiest brands to wear because they’re designed to be stylish, practical, and simple, yet meant to last decades by handling well water, scratches, and everyday bumps.;)

So you probably might not think of Timex as a Steampunk brand right away, but trust me…they actually fit in perfectly! Let’s take different Timex Marlin Chronograph watches for example. These leather-strapped and mechanical-looking accessories speak Vintage, in my opinion. Just pair one of these with some cool brass rings, cuffs, and a hat while wearing a tailored shirt or a Victorian blouse, and Boom…you’ve got that!

Just pick one that matches your vibe, throw it on, and keep on ticking!;)

HAMILTON

As with the previous ones, Hamilton has a great history to tell as well, which makes it a unique brand itself that can easily relate to Steampunk! Back in the day, they made railroad watches that kept train schedules on point, preventing crashes and delays (yeah, watches were that important indeed!). Means Hamilton became quickly known for precision and durability in 1892 at Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

By WWI, the company started making wristwatches for soldiers because they were tough, reliable, and easy to read in battle. Followed by WWII next, when they were supplying marine chronometers and pilot watches, making them a HIT brand for military timepieces by far.

But there’s not only the historic value lying beneath it. They quickly took over Hollywood, by supplying their products into tons of movies like “Interstellar”, “Men in Black” and “Tenet”, almost like being a part of the cast!;) Think there’s nothing cooler than having that unique ability to promote and introduce your products to the world, right!? As a matter of fact, the futuristic “Hamilton Ventura watch” (also on my list of watches below) was even Elvis Presley’s pick of choice:)

Illustrative photo of Timex wristwatch.

Today, Hamilton is Swiss-owned (part of the Swatch Group) but still keeps that American heritage vibe. Overall, the brand sits in that sweet spot between affordable luxury and high-end craftsmanship. Which is always welcoming to us!!

But there are many other reasons why they’re still solid. Hamilton’s durability isn’t gonna let you down, whether it’s a military-inspired field watch or a watch for regular use, these are built to last!

Also, its reliable and accurate Swiss movements make it well-respected in the watch world. No need to mention their Iconic and fantastic ageless design…the majority of their models have that “old-world-meets-new” look that easily works with our steampunk wardrobe! Especially if you want something historically accurate but still wearable nowadays, it might be a pick for you. Hamilton just makes you look effortlessly cool, people!;)

ZEPPELIN

Yeah, the name speaks for itself!! Diving into a brand that’s all about vintage elegance, early aviation history, and decent craftsmanship. If you feel that you’re into classic design, mechanical precision, and a touch of the steampunk scene of course, these watches are right up your alley, guys! Although the brand itself is relatively young, gotta say!

Zeppelin watches are made by PointTec, a German company that’s been crafting high-quality, vintage-style equipment since 1987! Btw…the brand inspiration comes from Ferdinand von Zeppelin, the German aviation pioneer who designed the famous Zeppelin airships in the early 1900s. Better late than never, right?;) One of the best things about these watches is that they’re refined but not over-the-top, but still delivering enough to turn people’s heads in a very positive way. Cmon, what’s not to love about them!

Illustrative photo of Timex wristwatch.

These rarities also come in great value, so you will get a high-quality, vintage-inspired watch without spending thousands. What makes them a stand-out niche is that EVERYTHING is designed with a retro aviation feel, from the typography to the deepest gears! Reliable movements? Absolutely! They use Swiss ETA, Sellita, and Japanese Miyota movements, all highly respected for their accuracy and durability.

ALSO…all these watches come with well-built cases and quality materials…in other words: with stainless steel, genuine leather straps, and domed Hesalite or Sapphire crystals for that vintage look and scratch resistance. That’s a big-big Plus!

Almost forgot 1 super important fact… the dials often feature telemeters, tachymeters, and moonphase complications, giving them that super practical at the same time almost a sweet and dreamy touch!;)That being said…If you want a watch that feels like it belongs in an alternate timeline, then Zeppelin is an excellent choice. Just throw one on, let the vintage vibes speak for themselves, and wear it like a modern trendmaker!;)

 LOUIS XVI

Last but not least! Let me present you the youngest brand on our list! LOUIS XVI is a Swiss watch brand established in 2012 that draws inspiration from King Louis XVI of France, known for his profound appreciation of horology.

It’s ideal that they’re Swiss-made, featuring high-quality materials such as sapphire crystal glass(which gives them an exceptional scratch resistance and clarity) and 316L stainless steel cases! What else are we looking for?;)

In fact, 316L stainless steel is known for its robustness and corrosion resistance…so that’s important. May I get some drum rolls now? They actually come with a 5-year international warranty, reflecting the brand’s commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. Highly appreciated!;)

While specific watches are inspired by the 18th-century French monarchy, their intricate designs and visible mechanical movements blend into a steampunk aura with an ease!

By thoughtfully pairing a LOUIS XVI watch with versatile wardrobe pieces, you can enhance your personal style with a blend of historical charm and contemporary fashion!

Aim for neutral-colored clothing, such as a white t-shirt and black jeans, to let the watch become the central point of your ensemble. This understated style ensures the watch’s intricate design receives the attention it deserves…if you wanna be more modest!

Too dry for your taste?

Just go full-on! We’re living in a world with no rules when it comes to fashion! Even steampunk-inspired clothing with fewer accessories complimented by the LOUIX XVI watch will carry the original look without a doubt!;) So let’s make the most of it!;)

Pocket Watches

Illustrative photo of pocket watch topic.

Basically, if you’re into “all or nothing” Steampunk, a pocket watch is a must-have accessory, as we’ve talked before!;) It’s often passed down through generations, making it a meaningful piece of history. Also unlike digital wristwatches, a mechanical pocket watch never really truly becomes outdated. As we’ve seen!;) A lot of pocket watches even stand out with their manual feature, meaning they are powered by gears and springs, not batteries. How freakin’ cool is that!

Speaking of modern ones, whether mechanical, quartz, or skeleton-style, keep this tradition alive while adding a contemporary touch to it! When it comes to styling…you don’t need to go full Victorian or cosplay obviously, to rock a pocket watch just try to integrate it subtly into modern fashion, and you’ll look effortlessly cool with a hint to the past straight away! Here are some super gorgeous quality pocket watches that I picked up for you to check out!;)
